Colored Diamonds

While the majority of diamonds sold today are colorless or white, naturally colored diamonds are starting to make a comeback with diamond aficionado's across the country. And, the best part about colored diamonds is that these gems are just as beautiful, if not more beautiful, than their colorless counterparts. Recognized and certified by the Gemological Institute of America (GIA), colored diamonds come in a wide range of different colors and shades, twelve to be exact. And, each of these colored diamonds is unique, brilliant, luminescent, and absolutely stunning in an individual and distinct way. Commonly called fancy-colored diamonds, the colors that are included in the colored diamonds category are yellow, orange, white, black, red, purple, gray, purple, green, brown, pink, and blue.

There is no doubt that colored diamonds are magnificent, but what really sets colored diamonds apart from traditional diamonds is the color differentiation in the colored diamonds themselves. The reality is that colored diamonds are not only full of intense color, but are also composed of wonderful color distribution. They also include sparkling flecks of various colors and shades all enclosed within one main color or shade, which is similar to a rainbow prism. For instance, a yellow or pink colored diamond might also have flecks of brown and gold, while some red colored diamonds might have some flecks of white and silver, all naturally occurring within their composition.

Due to the rarity of colored or fancy-colored diamonds, it is much more common to find colorless diamonds than colored diamonds in shops today, and that is why colored diamonds are so prized, coveted, and, very expensive. Just like traditional colorless diamonds, colored diamonds also come in various cuts, shapes, and weights, and are sold as loose diamonds or ready-made jewelry, which includes colored diamond rings, necklaces, earrings, and bracelets. Overall, colored diamonds are spectacular natural gems, and truly make an eye-catching impact when worn or displayed.
